'A Story That Can't Be Told' is a haunting account of the realisation voicelessness.

Written at a time when Lee literally had lost her voice, this song explores the emptiness and frustration of not only 'not being heard', but the fear of not ever hearing yourself again and being lost to the ether.

While 'You' in this song refers to Lee's voice (at the time of writing it) it also eludes to a connection of self and the fears of loosing access to the authentic self through the expression of one's truth.

The year after it was written, Lee went into the studio in LA to record this demo along with a few other songs. After taking a break before starting the session for 'A Story That Can't Be Told', Lee needed some tea to soothe her tired vocal chords. Ironically, the Lavender tea that Lee bought caused a near anaphylactic response and Lee's throat started to close up when she drank it. No knowing what was happening, and panicked at the thought of having to go to hospital, Lee immediately started meditating and asked her throat to open. Within a few minutes she was breathing more normally but her voice had gone. Further meditation brought it back and the session was able to proceed with many giggles about the irony of the situation given the songs subject matter.
